Premed Projects offer students aged 14 or older the chance to gain hospital work experience together with other likeminded students from all over the UK and abroad. We offer medical work experience, nursing work experience, midwifery work experience & dentistry work experience in clinical settings. Premed Projects take place in the UK and Thailand. Our projects are 1 or 2-week experiences with plenty of time to explore the country you choose to do your experience in. Of course, the focus is the opportunity to learn all about healthcare to give you some unrivalled work experience to help your future career. We also run UCAS experience days which are 1 day events led by UK doctors, where you learn all about Personal Statements, interviews and the UKCAT, designed to give you all the information and tips you need to secure your place in medical school. Finally for students aged 14 and 15 we run weekend events where students can find out for certain if a career in medicine is for them and gain some medical work experience to help them with their applications too.
Premed Projects is open to anyone considering a career in healthcare. We don’t have a lengthy application process, its our view that if you’re interested in healthcare, we’d love to have you on one of our projects as they were designed especially for students like you. On our 1 and 2 week courses, most of our students are aged 16 or 17 but we also get many older students too, from medical gap year students, university students, applicants for graduate entry medicine, right up to mature medical applicants too.
For students aged 14-15 we have a weekend course just for you so you can experience the world of medicine with students your own age to help you decide if a career in healthcare is for you.
Currently we have 2 destinations which you can choose to travel to, the United Kingdom or Thailand. Our UK Projects are located in London and the Premed Projects Thailand programme is set in the majestic countryside of Chiang Mai. We have tailored each of our projects to make them as accessible as possible, so we have different pricing options for each destination based on what each project includes.
Each partner hospital allows Premed Projects to send 32 students per week, with the projects running during school holidays. The projects are often running at capacity meaning you are going to be sharing the experience with lots of other like minded students. Most of the students who join us are aged 16-18 years old and have ambitions to apply for medical school or other healthcare careers and want their personal statement to stand out, want to get a feel for healthcare in a real hospital environment or just want some amazing material for university interviews. Most of our students come from the UK but hundreds also come from Hong Kong, China, Europe, Australia, USA and everywhere in-between. Premed Projects is open to everyone, you can be guaranteed you’ll be a part of a project full of students your own age from all over the world, all with a passion for healthcare. If you want to be a doctor, nurse, midwife or dentist, you’re in the right place – your only decision is where you would like to go.
This is what it’s all about. There are 3 main factors that go into a Premed Project. Quality of placement, accommodation & safety. We absolutely promise we will give you an experience to remember and one which is beneficial to your career and applications to university. You can find out more details of the hospital experience by visiting the specific page relevant to your preferred discipline.
All Premed Projects are residential, which means you’ll be staying with your fellow students and Premed Projects staff during your stay. This is a great way to immerse yourself in the world of medicine with your fellow students on the project and a great way to meet new friends too. We make sure all of our accommodation feels like a home away from home for students.
The Premed Projects staff team are on hand 24/7 should you need them. From project managers, hospital co-ordinators, housekeepers & security, we are never far away to ensure you are fully supported both inside and outside the hospitals. Premed Projects would not exist if it were not for our people and we’re incredibly proud of them. Tasked with the smooth running of your project, everyone in our family plays their part and we’re pretty sure you’ll leave your project viewing them as friends.
“Thanks to the whole Premed Projects team for making Abigail’s trip with you so memorable. She has come back from her placement determined more than ever to become a doctor.
